==Day 5== The Haruspex will receive a letter at some point on Day 5 about rat racing. He is invited to an abandoned warehouse and discovers a Doghead inside who explains to him how to compete in rat racing. From this point onwards to the end of the game, the Haruspex may come to the warehouse if he has either a Rat or a Brown Rat and participate in rat races to potentially win 500 coins. If he participates in a rat race on Day 5, the player will receive the You're so funny achievement. If the Haruspex left the warehouse Rubin was hiding in yesterday before the date change and was captured by the guards, he will wake up in a cell at 14:00 with 30 health and 20 reputation. Inside the jail, seeking plague clouds will continually appear and chase the Haruspex. To escape, the Haruspex must loot a patrolman's body left within his reach for 2 Beta-Tablets, 1 Gamma-Tablets, a Revolver, 3 Revolver Ammo, and Herbal Recipe #10. The Haruspex can then use the revolver to attack the patrolling guards, who will open the cell door in an attempt to subdue him. Haruspex may escape after killing both guards who each have 4 Revolver Ammo, 1 Meradorm, 1 Morphine, and 3 Alpha-Tablets. There are sick people inside of the building who may be given painkillers in exchange for a reputation boost, but the Haruspex needs to leave as quickly as possible to avoid getting infected himself. He may stop by Rubin's hideout to retrieve any items he stored the previous night. ===Main Quest: “The Quivering Heart”=== The Haruspex will find he has several letters. The first one is from the Bachelor who wishes to speak with him urgently. He will ask the Haruspex for a fresh Infected Heart from one of the Kin, who appear resistant to the plague. The Haruspex has three options to fulfill this request. First, Haruspex can speak with Aspity about the locations of the Butchers she helped escape from the Termitary. If he reveals that he is working for the Bachelor, she will refuse to help, but if the Haruspex tells her to "follow blindly", she will direct him to the western-most Worm gatherer hut. At this hut, he will find a Worm, an Herb Bride, and three Butchers. He may speak with the Herb Bride and the Butchers to learn that the Butchers wish to sacrifice the Herb Bride in a ritual they believe will appease the Earth and alleviate the Sand Plague. However, the Herb Bride insists she will be an insufficient sacrifice and she is of more use to Earth alive. If he chooses to kill the Herb Bride to extract the Bride's Heart, he will receive: * +50 Reputation * Herbal Recipe #4 on the Herb Bride's body * 2000-3000 Coins (random) and a Blue Vaccine upon successful delivery to the Bachelor If he chooses to kill the Butchers and take a Butcher's Heart, he will receive: * 3000-4000 Coins (random) and 2 Black Vaccine upon successful delivery to the Bachelor Alternatively, the Haruspex may talk to one of the dancers at Andrey Stamatin's Pub, an Herb Bride named Willow Mellow, before 20:00. The Haruspex can talk with her to discover that she has promised to meet with the Bachelor that evening in the Blind Backyard at 21:00, although after leaving Andrey Stamatin's Pub the Haruspex can find her there immediately. Approximately an hour after speaking with Willow, Haruspex will also receive a letter from Anna Angel. She will offer a lucrative reward if the Haruspex kills Willow for her. If Haruspex kills Willow to extract her heart, he will receive: * -10 Reputation * 3000 Coins (10000 if asked for more) from Anna If Haruspex gives Willow's heart to the Bachelor, the Bachelor will be upset due to the retaliation this will provoke from Willow's father Var, and the Haruspex will receive no reward. However, even if he does not kill Willow, she will succumb to the Sand Plague by the next day. After analyzing the sample, the Bachelor will reveal that his hypothesis is correct, and he has successfully isolated both a living sample of the bacterium for use in the formulation of a vaccine. However, the Sand Plague is immensely strong, and the sample did not contain enough antibodies for a panacea. The two doctors ponder their next steps and rest for the evening. ===Side Quest: “The Well”=== Another of the Haruspex's letters invites him to Vlad Jr.'s home. Vlad Jr. will ask the Haruspex to inspect the tunnels dug beneath the ground through his well. Vlad Jr will offer funding for the expedition, although the Haruspex can press him to receive more. After agreeing to inspect the tunnels, Haruspex will be given his advance and 50 Kerosene. The tunnels underneath are an unusual, blood-red color. Eventually, the Haruspex will find an exit point next to which sits the Rat Prophet. Haruspex will speak to the Rat Prophet about what is happening in the town and then leaves through the sewer lid on the ceiling. Haruspex then returns to Vlad Jr. to report his findings. Rewards: * 7000 Coins advance (14000 if pressed) * 7000 Coins and Herbal Recipes #2 & #3 upon return to Vlad Jr.
