Bachelor Route

On Day 3, the Bachelor will be informed that both Stanislav Rubin and the body of Simon Kain has gone missing. During the day, the Bachelor will receive a letter from Rubin, revealing the location of his Hideout in the Warehouses. Upon arriving at the Hideout, the Bachelor will learn that it was Rubin who stole Simon's body, and that he is currently attempting to make a vaccine out of the remains of the Kain patriarch. On the same day, the Bachelor will be required to find testable blood and may examine it at Rubin's Hideout.

On Day 4, the Bachelor may speak with Rubin at his Hideout and receive a Blue Vaccine.

On Day 5, Rubin will request the Bachelor's presence at his Hideout. Rubin will ask the Bachelor to bring him the heart of a recently deceased infected individual. Once the Bachelor has acquired the heart, he may give it to Rubin in Rubin's Hideout.

On Day 6, the Bachelor can speak with Rubin at his Hideout and receive a White Vaccine.

On Day 10, Katerina Saburova claims that Simon Kain is alive, as she had felt his spirit in the Crucible. The Bachelor seeks out Rubin, who can still be found in his Hideout, as he was the last person to see Simon's body. Rubin insists that Katerina is wrong and instructs the Bachelor to speak to the Kains for further information.

On Day 12, as Rubin is one of the Changeling's Bound, there is a chance that an Executor will be stationed outside of Rubin's Prosectorium with Rubin being infected inside. If the player wishes for the Changeling to attend the Cathedral meeting, they must give Rubin a Shmowder or a Panacea to cure him.

Haruspex Route

On Day 4, the Haruspex may visit Rubin's Hideout, although Rubin will not be there. Inside, the Haruspex can find a vial of Dead Tissue which he can give to the Bachelor, but it is not required.

Changeling Route

On Day 3, Anna Angel will ask the Changeling to investigate what the Bachelor and Stanislav Rubin have been up to. The Changeling will learn of the location of Rubin's Prosectorium from Eva Yan. She can talk to Rubin, who will ask her not to reveal his location to the Kains and gives her two bottles of Black Vaccine.

On Day 5, Alexander Saburov wants the Changeling to investigate if Rubin is responsible for the outbreak of the Plague. She is directed to Vlad the Younger, who tells her to bring Rubin Twyrine and Fresh Meat (although Rubin will take any meat). After bringing the food to the Prosectorium, Rubin will allow the Changeling to enter. He tells her what he has done to Simon Kain's body and she will have to go the Crucible to speak to the Kains before returning to Rubin again.

If the Changeling tells Saburov that Rubin is guilty of a crime, he will become infected at midnight and an Executor will be found standing outside of the Prosectorium every day until the end of the game, unless he is cured with a Shmowder or Panacea.

On Day 10, the Changeling receives a letter from Notkin, who tells her that Rubin is looking for her. Upon entering Rubin's Prosectorium, the Changeling will instead find the Bachelor. He informs her that Rubin had gone to speak to the Kains.

On Day 11, as one of the Changeling's Bound, Rubin may be chosen to be spoken to in relation to the main quest.

Pathologic 2

Stakh Rubin does mysterious work here at night. This hideout was granted to him by Bad Grief.

Rubin's Hideout is initially inaccessible to the Haruspex during the game's beginning.
Spoiler warning: Significant plot details follow.
Day 5
In the early morning of Day 5, the Haruspex will be approached by a number of Worms who inform him that his friend Stanislav Rubin is doing something dangerous and taboo that will hurt the Kin's reputation in the Town. The Haruspex may find the location of Rubin's Hideout from Bad Grief, who will either be at Aspity's Hospice or Bad Grief's Nest. Following Bad Grief's clues, the Haruspex can find the Hideout by following a trail of blood through the Warehouses. After entering the Hideout, Rubin will demand to know how the Haruspex found the Hideout and refuse to tell him what he is doing, while nonetheless begging the Haruspex to distract or dispatch anyone waiting outside.
When the Haruspex leaves the Hideout, he will be confronted by a Worm who will reveal that they have found the Hideout by following the Haruspex. The Haruspex will be forced into combat with this Worm and three others positioned throughout the Warehouses, however killing them is not imperative: Simply evading them and fleeing the district will qualify as a sufficient distraction. If fleeing, the exact trigger for the Haruspex's mind map to update can be inconsistent: Rest assured that there is no way to fail this event.
Day 6
In the early morning of Day 6, the Haruspex may check on Rubin in his Hideout. Three men from the Kin will be waiting outside. Inside the Hideout, Rubin will ask for the Haruspex's help in distracting the men as he is too exhausted to fight them off himself. Once again, the Haruspex has the option of either killing the men or running away to create a distraction.
Day 7
While protecting Rubin during the days prior reveals some information about his activities and opens up more dialogue options, ignoring either or both of the quests does not affect his survival on Day 7, which is contingent solely on the Haruspex successfully retrieving a Panacea from the brewery before 07:30 on Day 7.
Significant plot details end here.
