The members will ask the Bachelor his opinion on their debate about fate, death, and the cause and origin of the Sand Plague. One believes it could have happened anywhere and that the Town was simply unfortunate. One believes that its due to Town's rebellion against nature as he believes the attempt to combine the utopian ideals of the Town and the conflicting ones of the Kin made the Town especially vulnerable. The last believes the Polyhedron is specifically responsible for the outbreak.

At the end of the day, orderlies start receiving odd and contradictory information from the Committee. Every hour they issue a new strange guideline such as orders to breed cats, to take beds and bunks outside, to put small bells atop graves and to bury the dead in the most notable and visible places. When the Bachelor approaches the committee the members will be replaced with Tragedians. They comment that they no longer need the Bachelor.
